Job Title: Counselor
Starts June 10th 2024
Job Overview: Join our Hybrid Motion Camp TEAM! We have a blast every day. Arrange and participate in group games, help run crafts and our famous Slime Table, DJ a dance party, help coach tumbling and beginner gymnastics circuits.
Hours:
Camps run M-F 8:30am-3:30pm. There are Full-Day shifts (8:15-3:45 with a 30m break for lunch) and Half-Day shifts (8:15-12:15 & 12-4)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Check in kids as they arrive and ensure proper dress code and understanding of safety and respect rules.
- Assist in planning and implementing daily fitness activities for children aged 5 to 14 years.
- Ensure that all equipment and supplies are prepared and ready for use before each session.
- Assist in supervising and leading fitness activities such as running, jumping, obstacle courses, strength training, and other exercises with necessary direction and training from Camp Director and Head of Gymnastics.
- Monitor and ensure the safety of all participants during fitness activities.
- Provide individual attention and support to children who may require extra assistance or encouragement.
- Help to maintain a clean and organized fitness area throughout the day.
- Assist with other activities as needed, such as group games.
- Supervise snack times and lunch to ensure kids are taking time to eat, be respectful to each other and closely monitor any children with food allergies noted on their file
- Report any concerns or issues to the lead fitness instructor in a timely manner.
- Help clean up and set up for afternoon workshops
Qualifications:
- 14 years or older
- Experience working with children in an active or sports setting.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Passion for fitness, health and working with children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm and patient in high-energy environments.
- Must be able to pass a background check if over 18
Physical Demands: Counselors will need to be physically fit and able to perform the various fitness activities and exercises required for the position. This may include running, jumping, lifting equipment, and other physical movements.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and varies from $18-$25/hr. Employees with appropriate aged children are able to bring their children, free of charge, while they are working. Bringing multiple children to work is acceptable but may result in a lower hourly wage or a partial charge (50% or less) for camp tuition fees.
